In a bid to ease students’ commuting challenges, the Punjab government has introduced a scheme offering 20,000 bikes through convenient installment plans.
The first phase of the initiative will roll out 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 e-bikes. To facilitate this endeavor, the Punjab government is allocating Rs 1 billion for markup subsidies and covering Rs 20,000 as the down payment for each bike on behalf of the students. Additionally, the government will absorb the markup on monthly installments.
Male students will pay Rs 11,676 per month, while female students will contribute Rs 7,325 monthly. Distribution prioritizes areas with higher population densities, with initial focus on cities like Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
The program is inclusive of students from both public and private universities and graduate colleges. Interested individuals have until April 29th to submit applications online via the provided link (https://bikes.punjab.gov.pk/) Eligible applicants must be 18 years or older, enrolled in a public or private university/graduate college, and possess a valid driving license or learner’s permit.
This initiative not only offers affordable transportation solutions but also empowers students to pursue their educational goals with ease.
