On Tuesday in Islamabad, an exhibition of artifacts, replicas, and photographs was held to highlight Pakistan’s Buddhist cultural heritage and Gandhara civilization.
Ambassadors from nations that observe Vesak were invited to Pakistan to honor their Buddhist civilizational linkages.
The ceremony was attended by ambassadors and high commissioners from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Nepal. Experts and scholars from Pakistan took part in the discussion.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar spoke during the event, emphasizing Pakistan’s multicultural and diverse heritage.
She urged Buddhist visitors to visit the UNESCO world heritage sites in Pakistan’s Gandhara.
In honor of Vesak Day, Thailand’s Ambassador Chakkrid Krachaiwong offered his thoughts on Lord Buddha’s message and praised Pakistan for its position as a guardian of Buddhist religious sites and as the region’s core of Buddhist civilization.
A showcase of Gandhara artifacts in Pakistan, a documentary on Buddhist legacy, and an exhibition of Buddhist artifacts, pictures, and crafts by participating embassies were all part of the event.
