A Canadian visa is an official document issued by the Government of Canada that allows foreign nationals to enter and stay in Canada for a specific purpose and duration. Canada offers various types of visas, each designed to accommodate different needs and circumstances. These visas are essential for individuals who wish to visit, work, study, or immigrate to Canada.

Here are the 4 simple steps for Canada’s permanent Residency (PR)

Decide Routes to Enter Canada as per Canadian VISA Types

The first thing you need to do is decide how you want to become a permanent resident of Canada. You have a few options: you can study, work, start a business, or get sponsored by a family member.

If you plan to study or work in Canada, it’s relatively straightforward. But if you’re thinking about getting sponsored by a family member, it can be a bit more complicated. Only people who are already permanent residents of Canada can sponsor their relatives like siblings, grandparents, partners, spouses, or parents to come to Canada.

Your very first step is to choose the path that suits you best for getting Canadian permanent residency. In this article, we’ll focus on the route of Canadian employment-based immigration programs, which can be a quick and easy way to become a permanent resident of Canada.

Check your Eligibility and immigration assessment scores

Now, since we’re choosing the Canadian employment path to go to Canada, the second step involves checking your eligibility. To be eligible to apply for a Canadian work visa, you’ll need to meet certain criteria. This may include undergoing an educational credential assessment. Additionally, you might be required to achieve a score of 7 or higher on the Canadian Government Benchmark Level (CLB) test.

Moreover, you’ll also need to earn a high score on the Canadian Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points system. This is important because it can make you eligible for job opportunities announced by the Canadian federal or provincial governments through their employment immigration programs.

Immigration Routes to Enter Canada for Employment

Let me introduce you to the Canadian employment-related immigration programs. These are the best ways for you to secure a job in Canada and live there for a minimum of 5 years (730 days), making you eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Canada offers several fast-track immigration employment programs that can lead to high-paying skilled worker jobs in various regions of the country. These programs also allow you to enter Canada with your spouse, dependent children, parents, or partners. Here are the main employment-based immigration programs in Canada:

  • Canadian Express Entry, which includes:
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class Program
  • Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Canadian Visa
  • Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), which consist of 12 different immigration programs designed for specific provinces and territories in Canada Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Canadian Visa.

These programs are excellent pathways for skilled workers to establish themselves in Canada and work towards becoming permanent residents.

  • YNP: Canada Yukon nominee immigration program
  • AINP: Canada Alberta immigrant nominee immigration program
  • MPNP: Canada Manitoba Provincial Nominee immigration program
  • NLPNP: Canada Newfoundland & Labrador Provincial nominee immigration program
  • NTPNP: Canada Northwest Territories Provincial nominee immigration program
  • NS PNP: Canada Nova Scotia Provincial nominee immigration program
  • SINP: Canada Saskatchewan Immigrant nominee immigration Program
  • OINP: Canada Ontario Immigrant Nominee immigration program
  • BCPNP: Canada British Columbia provincial nominee immigration program
  • PEI PNP: Canada Prince Edward Island Provincial nominee immigration program
  • NBPNP: Canada New Brunswick Provincial Nominee immigration program
  • QSWP: Canada Quebec Skilled Workers immigration program
  • (AIPP): Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

Fulfill Eligibility Requirements to apply for Canadian PR

Now, we’ve reached a crucial step that brings you closer to obtaining your Canadian PR (Permanent Residency) card, which essentially makes you a permanent citizen of Canada.

To apply for the PR card, you must meet certain requirements. The most fundamental one is ensuring your physical presence in Canada for at least 730 days out of the last 5 years.

In addition to meeting this presence requirement, you’ll be asked to provide supporting documents, including bank statements, employment records, notices of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), club or rental agreements, and any other documents that can verify your claim of having lived in Canada for 730 days during the past 5 years.

These documents are crucial for your PR card application.
