Legendary global cricketer Shahid Afridi said that he wrote to Ramiz Raja, who is expected to become the next head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Afridi told reporters here on Friday that Ramiz will be the first PCB chairman, whom he greeted through text message.

“Ramiz Bhai is capable of becoming PCB chairman. Because he has a good understanding of cricket from playing, commentating for a long period, and spending time with famous cricketers,” he explained.

“He will be the first PCB chairman to whom I have sent a text message of congratulations. I sincerely hope he would lead Pakistan cricket forward. I just advised him not to alter the present PCB system. Because I feel that any system takes time to produce benefits, altering it instantly will bring problems,” he explained.

Afridi also advised Ramiz to choose individuals at the leadership based on merit. “Ramiz Bhai is a wise man with a clear vision. “All he needs to do is bring in honest individuals who are willing to work for the greater good rather than their own selfish gain,” he explained.

“In such a situation, you must put your personal interests aside and consider for Pakistan. As for Malik and Hafeez, I believe they are now needed by the Pakistan team,” Afridi said in response to a query on the future of experienced players when Ramiz takes over the PCB.

Remember that Malik and Hafeez had an internet dispute with Ramiz after the latter requested both senior cricketers to retire from international cricket due to their advancing age.
