The much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan in this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has been postponed for a new day, and the specifics of eight other matches have also been altered.
The match between India and Pakistan was initially scheduled for Sunday, 15 October in Ahmedabad, but it has been shifted a day earlier and will now take place at the same site on Saturday, 14 October.
As a result, England’s match against Afghanistan in Delhi will be rescheduled for Sunday, 15 October, rather than Saturday, 14 October.
Pakistan’s encounter against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 10 October, rather than Thursday, 12 October, and Australia’s important match against South Africa in Lucknow has been rescheduled for Thursday, 12 October rather than Friday, 13 October.
Similarly, New Zealand’s game against Bangladesh, which was initially planned for 14 October as a day match in Chennai, has been pushed back to Friday, 13 October and will now be played as a day-night contest.
A slight modification to the fixture from the initial phase of the tournament refers to the timing of England’s match-up versus Bangladesh in Dharamsala, with the contest becoming a day match with a 10:30AM (local time) start after it was initially slated as a day-night fixture.
There are three adjustments near the end of the league stage, with the double-header matches of Australia vs Pakistan in Pune (10:30AM) and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata (02:00PM) being shifted a day earlier to Saturday, 11 November.
Meanwhile, India’s final league game against the Netherlands has been rescheduled for November 12th, a day-night match in Bengaluru.
The World Cup commences on Thursday, 5 October when 2019 finalists England and New Zealand clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the event culminating in the final at the same venue on Sunday, 19 November.
