Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, has made an impressive climb in the ICC Men’s Test batter rankings after his noteworthy performances in the recently-concluded Sydney Test against Australia.
Rizwan’s knocks of 88 and 28 helped him secure a 10-spot jump, placing him at 17th in the rankings. Despite playing only two out of three matches in the series, he emerged as Pakistan’s highest run-scorer with a total of 193 runs.
Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne also made strides in the rankings, moving up three spots to secure the fourth position after scoring 60 and an unbeaten 62 in the same Test. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who scored a brilliant second innings century against India, rose nine spots to enter the top 20.
In the Indian batting lineup, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma made notable moves, standing at sixth and tenth positions, with scores of 775 and 748, respectively. In the bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah climbed to the fourth spot, surpassing Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj’s impressive performance, claiming 6/15 and 1/31, propelled him 13 places up to a career-high 17th position.
On the bowling front, Pat Cummins of Australia overtook Kagiso Rabada to claim the second position in the rankings with 858 points. Cummins, who was named Player of the Series against Pakistan, secured six wickets.
His teammate, Josh Hazlewood, climbed from 11th to a tie for seventh with England’s James Anderson after bagging five wickets in the series. This shift pushed Nathan Lyon down to 11th place.
The rankings also reflect Lungi Ngidi’s rise by nine spots to 28th after his three-wicket haul in the first innings. Despite missing the Sydney Test, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi maintains a presence in the rankings, standing nine points behind Nathan Lyon.
