Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has said the upcoming local government election in federal capital Islamabad (ICT) will be held with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz Addressed a news conference in Islamabad on January 10th (Today).
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz also said in the conference in Islamabad today:
“The Local Government Elections in Federal Capital Islamabad will be held in the middle of April, 2022. Prime Minister Imran Khan always wanted full transparent elections, which is possible only by using Electronic Voting Machines in the elections.”
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz also told the conference:
“The local government election in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was a mess. As 200,000 votes were wasted and did not get casted. And also the results for the local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was recieved late. The total number of wasted votes in the local government election of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was far greater than the margin of votes the winner party in the election won by.”
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz also told the conference in Islamabad today:
“We are now moving towards the practical application of the EVMs. And the Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan will cooperate fully with the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), because holding a transparent election is the job of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)”
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz also told the conference in Islamabad today:
“The Electronic Voting Machinces EVMs will be provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan next week for testing and training of the commission before the local government body elections in Islamabad. And it may be possible that the election in Punjab will also be done through EVMs.”
