The Pakistani Punjab Police Inspector-General Faisal Shahkar’s appointment as its advisor was warmly received by the United Nations Peacekeeping Police Division on Tuesday.
“The UN Police Division welcomes the appointment of IGP Faisal Shahkar of Pakistan as the seventh UN Police Adviser, who will begin his duties soon. The UN agency tweeted that Mr. Shahkar’s 30+ years of expertise in both national and UN policing will assist guarantee that UN Police continues to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described the appointment of Inspector General Shahkar as a national honor in response to the announcement.

Pakistan’s top diplomat tweeted in response to a Twitter post by the United Nations Police Division welcoming Shahkar’s appointment.
IG Shahkar — a BS-22 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan — was appointed the Punjab Police chief in July of this year.
The Punjab Police chief was previously serving as the inspector general of Pakistan Railways Police.
