The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing into a plea seeking the formation of a Fact-Finding Commission to probe the killing of senior journalist News anchorperson Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
In a “mistaken identification case,” Kenyan police shot and killed Arshad Sharif on Sunday along the Nairobi-Magadi highway.
Athar Minallah, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, heard the argument made in the case by attorney Shoaib Razaq.
Arshad Sharif’s body will arrive in Pakistan today from Kenya, according to attorney Shoaib Razaq, who pleaded with the court to order the creation of a judicial panel to investigate the killing of a Pakistani journalist.
The deputy attorney general described the occurrence as a grief-related situation and stated that the government is awaiting a report on the killing from the Kenyan government.
