The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted a stay order in the cipher case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s jail trial until November 16.
A decision was announced by a two-member bench comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Raffat, following a plea from the former prime minister.
Salman Akram Raja represented the PTI chairman, while Deputy Attorney General Arshad Kiani appeared on behalf of the government.

Justice Aurangzeb expressed concern over the notifications issued by the federal government for the jail trial, noting that they appeared to be prima facie against high court rules. He emphasized that there were many unanswered questions about the trial.
Furthermore, the judge mentioned that although the chief justice of IHC had been consulted, the creation of the special court was done through an executive order.
