The Islamabad High Court (IHC) delayed its decision on Tuesday on former Prime Minister and PTI head Imran Khan’s intra-court appeal against his incarceration in the cipher case.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman is now being held on judicial remand at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.
A two-member Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat bench heard arguments. During today’s hearing, Salman Akram Raja completed his arguments.
He implored the court to consider his client’s plea against the imprisonment trial in the cipher case.
Mansoor Awan, the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), informed the court that the jail trial was conducted as an open trial. While acknowledging that Khan’s family was initially not allowed into the courtroom, he attributed it to the limited space available in the proceedings room.
AGP Awan mentioned that the case’s trial commenced on October 23.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict on the PTI chief’s plea after hearing arguments from both parties.
The concise verdict is expected to be announced this evening, likely between 5:00 to 5:30 pm, as per the information provided by the Islamabad High Court.
