The special court overseeing the cipher case has scheduled the indictment of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi for December 12th.
The adjudication of the cipher case took place at Adiala Jail, presided over by Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain. In today’s proceedings, legal representatives from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised concerns about the exclusion of international media from covering the trial.
During their arguments, PTI lawyers contended that the trial, governed by the Criminal Act of 1952, faced a complication due to an amendment in 1958. They asserted that the court should seek clarification on this matter before proceeding. In response, the prosecutor emphasized the clarity of the law and justice ministry’s notification, asserting that the trial is in accordance with the law.
Following the distribution of challan copies to the respondents, the special court concluded to formally indict the PTI leader and former foreign minister in the cipher case on December 12th.
