MUZAFFARABAD: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) belonging to the Indian Army drifted into Pakistan’s Nikial Sector after experiencing a technical malfunction during a training mission, according to reports from the defense spokesman.
The incident occurred at 9:25 AM on August 24, when the mini aerial vehicle lost control and inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory. Pakistani troops successfully recovered the UAV, which was conducting a routine training flight within Indian borders before the malfunction led it to enter Pakistan’s Nikial Sector, located opposite the Bhimber Gali Sector in the Poonch district.
In response to the incident, the Indian Army has sent a hotline message to the Pakistan Army, requesting the return of the UAV.
This event occurs against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, driven by long-standing political and territorial disputes, particularly over the Kashmir region. Despite various efforts to improve relations through peace talks, a lasting resolution remains elusive as nationalist sentiments and political agendas continue to fuel the conflict.
