Amidst the Iranian and UAE tensions due to the agreement between UAE and Israel, Iran seized a United Arab Emirates registered ship, violating Iranian territorial waters. As per the foreign ministry of Iran, UAE coastguards killed two Iranian Fishermen the same day. The tensions are further brought the fire with this incident between the two oil-rich countries. As the state Television confirmed this news by the statement, “On Monday, an Emirati ship was seized by Iran’s border guards and its crew was detained due to illegal traffic in our country’s waters.”
Statement further narrates that Iran called upon the charge d’affairs from UAE to Tehran for the incident. However, comments were declined by the UAE foriegn ministry when contacted through reuters. State News from UAE claimed that the coastguards were trying to stop 8 fishing boats from Iran which were violating territorial waters of United Arab Emirates northwest of Sir Bu Nu’Ayr island. However, they didnt report any casualties.
“The UAE authorities in a note on Wednesday, have expressed their deep regret over the incident and announced their readiness to compensate for all the damage caused,” Iran’s statement said.
