During Pakistan’s continuing economic downturn, the world’s most famous fast food business, McDonald’s Pakistani franchise, sent a cryptic tweet that led followers to believe the worst.
The internet flew into a frenzy because netizens assumed McDonald’s would close due to social media remarks.
On Wednesday, the franchise’s Twitter handle uploaded a black image with the words “We will be back soon,” which elicited an outpouring of support from Twitter users concerned that their favorite cafe would likely close.
About 20 hours after the tweet, another message appeared, playfully stating that the break was taken for fun and that the wait was worthwhile.
It should be mentioned that McDonald’s would not be closing any of its franchisees in Pakistan. The posts were part of a marketing strategy to pique fans’ interest in the imminent surprise.
