After the conclusion of the festival in Lahore and Karachi, the Divvy Film Festival, an annual festival that aims to expand and celebrate independent Pakistani cinema, is scheduled to begin on March 17 at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad.
The Foundation Art Divvy and PNCA worked together to organize the eagerly awaited festival. The organization seeks to give Pakistani arts and film an institutional platform both domestically and abroad.
The film schedule had been divided between Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
The festival, now in its third year, will screen feature films, short films, documentaries, and animated movies every evening. Its programming will be carefully chosen to give spectators an insightful and immersive experience, and it will conclude with a discussion with the directors of the films.
The films that will be shown during the festival will address a wide range of topics, such as coming-of-age, identity, climate change, the anguish of loss, and the delight of ordinary and unexpected moments.
“They dig into experiences and memories within us and showcase the hero in each of us,” said Zahra, the Foundation Art Divvy’s creative director.
The festival will feature films from well-known artists such as actor Usman Mukhtar, documentary director Mahera Omar, and Sarmad Khoosat, among others.
The event will conclude with an award ceremony after the screenings are completed.
At least 16 films were showcased at the Divvy Film Festival in Karachi during the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) at the Beach Luxury Hotel from February 17-18.
