A computer scientist and a former Chairman of PITB, Dr. Umar Saif stated that in the IT sector, a major difficulty in the way of its growth in Pakistan is the lack of skilled manpower.
Saif while talking to the official channel said that the IT industry of Pakistan is taking off as it is now growing. According to the PSEB- Pakistan Software Export Board, 2,826 companies of IT have been registered in the SECP- Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan during the current financial year.
Dr Saif stated that officially the IT exports of the country stand at $1 – 1.25 billion; however, the actual figures stand at about $3-3.5 billion.
Furthermore, while comparing Pakistan’s IT exports with the neighboring country, India, Dr. Saif said that Indian IT exports stood at a value of $100 billion that is approximately 30 times more than the IT exports of Pakistan.
