In an exclusive interview, pacer Wahab Riaz said that wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal is likely to be given a coaching position with Peshawar Zalmi for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8.
When asked about missing his senior Zalmi teammate Kamran during the interview, Wahab responded that it is most probable that the cricketer will join his coaching staff for the 2017 PSL champions.
Without a doubt, his absence would be felt greatly, added Wahab. But, he continued, “I’ve heard he’s most likely to land a coaching position in the Zalmi setup.
From 2016 to 2022, Kamran, 41, played for Zalmi. With 1972 runs in 74 innings, he is now the second-highest scorer in the PSL. He also holds the record for most centuries (3) in PSL. His batting average in the league is 27.38.
Kamran wasn’t kept on by Zalmi for the ninth PSL season. In the draught that took place in December of last year, he was released. He was not selected, along with several other seasoned players including Mohammad Hafeez.
For Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik, who transferred to Karachi Kings in the Platinum and Diamond categories, respectively, before the trade and retention window ended last year, Zalmi acquired Babar in the Platinum category and the first choice in the extra round in one of the largest trades of PSL 8.
