Tablets were distributed among the teachers of Karachi ahead of the commencement of the first digital census in Pakistan.
Tablets were reportedly given out to teachers who successfully finished training for Pakistan’s first digital census and the country’s sixth overall.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics is training teachers in various areas of Sindh, including Karachi, in preparation for the 2018 general elections, which will be based on a digital census (PBS).
The teachers who attended the program at Government Boys Secondary School Anjuman Islamia Liaquatabad received tablets.

According to Census Supervisor and Master Trainer Amber Sultana, the digital census training phase will last through January 21 and the actual census process will begin on February 1.
The census will be the first in Pakistani history to be conducted without the use of paper and pencil; instead, the statistics agency and trained personnel will enter data into tablets.
