KARACHI: Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives announced on Saturday that the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project will be constructed on the same concept as Lahore’s Orange Line Metro Train.
The minister made these statements while chairing a preparatory meeting on a joint working group on transportation infrastructure, which included officials from the CPEC Authority, the National Highway Authority, the Gwadar Port Authority, and top officers from the Ministry of Planning and Railways.
“The Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) is another important mass transit project that should be implemented in the same manner as Lahore’s Orange Line,” he remarked.
Ahsan Iqbal also expressed his concerns over the delay in the constriction of the ML-1 project.
The Minister was also asked to evaluate the cost of a 250 km/hour track to determine the project’s future viability. He also requested that the ML-1 project be processed as quickly as possible.
