ISLAMABAD – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched new digital training initiatives aimed at empowering youth by enhancing their skills in digital literacy and problem-solving.
Under the leadership of the KP IT Board, the provincial government introduced the KP Digital Internship Program, offering 200 internships to fresh graduates in IT companies across Peshawar, Abbottabad, and other regions. This program provides hands-on experience and improves job readiness in the tech industry.
In addition, a new online platform, Join IT, has been established to connect skilled professionals with IT companies, facilitating job placements by matching talent with industry needs.
In collaboration with Google and Tech Valley, the KP IT department is offering scholarships to 5,000 young individuals from the northwestern region. These scholarships provide certifications in high-demand digital skills, helping bridge the gap between traditional education and the evolving job market.
At Durshal, KPITB’s flagship business incubation center, 20 new startups were welcomed as part of the 2024 cohort, representing districts like Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat. Durshal has supported 173 startups so far, creating over 1,600 jobs and generating PKR 751 million in revenue.
Additionally, a new batch of fellows has joined the Government Innovation Fellowship Program to collaborate with government departments on developing digital solutions to improve public sector efficiency.
These efforts mark a significant step in advancing digital skills, fostering innovation, and creating job opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s growing tech landscape.
