Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unveiled plans for a new local train service in Peshawar to combat the city’s escalating traffic congestion. The announcement was made during a meeting at the CM House, attended by PTI-supported members of the provincial and National Assembly from Peshawar district.
The meeting primarily focused on addressing various developmental challenges in Peshawar, ranging from healthcare and security to traffic management and infrastructure enhancement. Chief Minister Gandapur stressed the collective responsibility to prioritize the city’s progress, outlining strategies to revitalize Peshawar and restore its former allure.
Proposed initiatives included transitioning street lights to solar energy and introducing train services to ease traffic congestion, with discussions also exploring the feasibility of engaging private entities to establish a BRT-style train system. Addressing sanitation concerns, Gandapur pledged swift action and sustainable solutions, including the potential shift of the sanitation system underground.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of merit-based appointments across government institutions to improve public service delivery, affirming a commitment to depoliticize the process and ensure competent leadership.
