Provincial Minister for Environment and Forests Muhammad Ishtiaq Umar claimed on Sunday that over 7070 million wild olive tree plants had been discovered in KP, of which 40 million will be grafted in the next five years with the support of the Agriculture Department.
“In KP, there are approximately 70 million wild olive trees, including combined areas. These plants are inaccessible in some areas due to remote mountainous areas. In the next two years, we will prioritize grafting wild olives inaccessible areas with the support of the Agriculture Department for massive afforestation under the 10BTAP “, Ishtiaq Urmar said.
He further added that under the project, the Agriculture Department’s research institutes will be used to graft olive trees.
Provincial minister confirmed that, “olive and bee flora seeds, as well as fruits for all,” have been included in 10BTAP, and planting has already begun.
Over 35 crore olive trees were found in merged areas, according to officials, because the environment of Bajaur, Kurrum, Khyber, Orajzai, and Waziristan districts was ideal for their planting.
Half of the plantation goals, or 500 million plants, will be met by June of this year under the 10BTAP, as per the Minister.
