Kuwait is gearing up to introduce a Family Visa option in early 2024, as per the Ministry of Interior’s considerations. The upcoming Article 22 visa will cater to family members or dependents and will be specifically available to certain expatriate categories such as doctors, university professors, applied education professors, and counselors.
The exact eligibility criteria are yet to be disclosed, as the ministry intends to establish a committee tasked with defining the conditions for expatriate groups eligible to bring their families. This move aligns with the demographic strategy spearheaded by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled.
In addition to the Family Visa initiative, details have emerged about a unified Gulf visa mechanism for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The regulations include a daily fine of KD100 for individuals overstaying visas, along with mandatory health insurance and a hotel reservation throughout the stay.
These measures signify Kuwait’s commitment to ensuring a regulated and organized system for visa processes.
