This month, the caretaker Punjab government plans another round of artificial rain to help alleviate haze in Lahore.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Governor Balighur Rehman at the Governor’s House on Thursday to discuss public welfare projects in the province, as well as improvements to police stations, facilitation centers, and zoos.
The discussion during the meeting also encompassed the prevalent smog issues. The governor emphasized the exceptional nature of the smog problem in Lahore, indicating the necessity for extraordinary measures.
Highlighting the success of the initial experiment in inducing artificial rainfall, he mentioned plans for a second round of artificial rainfall later this month to further alleviate smog levels in Lahore.
It’s worth noting that on December 16, the Punjab government conducted a cloud-seeding test for artificial rain over a specific area in Lahore to combat smog.
Addressing the media, CM Mohsin Naqvi disclosed that the artificial rain experiment received support from the UAE. Approximately 10% of Lahore’s areas experienced rainfall due to the cloud-seeding experiment, deploying 48 flares for the purpose.
He underscored the meticulous monitoring that commenced at 9:00 in the morning, emphasizing an unwavering commitment to the success of the ongoing artificial rain initiative.
