The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plea challenging the withdrawal of its election symbol, the bat.
LHC Justice Jawad Hasan declared PTI’s petition ‘inadmissible.’ PTI’s local leader, Umar Aftab Dhillon, filed the plea against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision.
The Peshawar High Court had recently revoked a stay order, restoring the ECP’s decision to nullify PTI’s intra-party polls and strip it of the ‘bat’ symbol.
The ECP had, on December 2, declared PTI ineligible for its symbol, citing non-compliance with election rules. PTI had challenged this decision in the courts.
