Lahore Qalandars clinched a nail-biting Pakistan Super League final to become the first team to successfully defend their title, defeating Multan Sultans by one run at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Despite chasing a daunting target of 201 runs, the Sultans came within a whisker of achieving the victory but eventually fell short. The Qalandars’ win ensured that they are the first team in PSL history to successfully defend the title.
The match saw some exceptional performances, with David Wiese providing a crucial breakthrough and Rashid Khan claiming two key wickets to restrict Multan. Shaheen’s final-over heroics and Zaman Khan’s nerveless finish with the bat were also instrumental in Lahore’s victory. .
In the first innings, Lahore posted 200-6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s 39 and an unbeaten 44 from captain Shaheen. Abdullah Shafique also contributed with a quickfire 65.
Usama Mir’s three wickets in his first two overs were the highlight of Multan’s bowling performance.
