A traffic officer was captured on camera pushing and slapping a young biker at Lakshmi Chowk in Lahore for reportedly failing to produce his national identification card.
On the main route at Lakshmi Chowk in Lahore, a traffic cop was seen slapping and demeaning a person.
Two traffic wardens were seen halting a young biker at the scene. One of them abruptly lost his composure and began pushing the teenager. The rider remained sitting on his motorcycle and made no attempt to remove the traffic officer from his position.
Later, the traffic officer walked over to the motorcyclist’s side and smacked him in the face. It was discovered that the policeman beat the young person for displaying his computerized national identification card (CNIC).
After being transported to the traffic department, the young person was later freed after providing assurance that they will report the occurrence.
The SSP South had earlier in June suspended a traffic police officer after a video of him requesting a bribe from a witness in Karachi’s Defense neighborhood went viral.
The driver recorded the incident on film, which depicts the sub-inspector stopping the car at the side of the road and demanding payment.
Elahi Bux has been recognized as the sub-inspector. Along with SI Bux, another police officer who was deployed was also the target of the action.
The SSP directed officials to launch an inquiry into the incident immediately and suspended both cops. Disciplinary action has also been ordered against the suspended cops, who were deputed at the Defence traffic police post.
