The launching ceremony for the state-of-the-art 4th Offshore Patrol Vessel, PNS YAMAMA, constructed for the Pakistan Navy, took place at Damen Shipyard Galati in Romania.
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the paramount importance of maritime security in the face of prevailing conventional and non-conventional threats to energy and trade routes traversing the Indian Ocean Region. Vice Admiral Bilgrami highlighted Pakistan Navy’s substantial contribution to maintaining a safe and secure maritime environment for global trade.
The Vice Chief of the Naval Staff expressed confidence that the induction of these multipurpose and highly adaptive platforms, equipped with cutting-edge weapons and sensors, will significantly enhance the combat capability of the Pakistan Navy Fleet.
This augmentation aims to fortify the navy’s ability to safeguard maritime frontiers, ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, particularly in the Arabian Sea.
