A petition challenging the nationwide internet shutdown has been filed in the Lahore High Court. The court’s Registrar’s Office has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow, with Justice Shakeel Ahmed set to preside.
Filed by Nadeem Sarwar, the petition lists the federal government, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and others as respondents. Sarwar argues that the shutdown of internet and social media apps occurred without prior notice or justification, significantly disrupting businesses and daily life.
The petitioner asserts that the internet suspension violates fundamental rights and calls for the immediate reversal of the federal government’s decision, urging the full restoration of internet services across the country.
