Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali as the new Defence Secretary of Pakistan. The notification of his appointment was issued by the Establishment Division, and his tenure will begin on October 1, 2024. Lt Gen Muhammad Ali will serve as Defence Secretary for a period of two years and three months, ending on December 31, 2026.
This appointment reflects the government’s strategic decision to enhance national defense leadership and ensure continuity in managing the country’s defense affairs.
Lt Gen Muhammad Ali’s appointment follows recent decisions in other key government posts, including the Lahore High Court’s reinstatement of Lt Gen Munir Afsar as Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The government remains committed to strengthening its leadership in various departments for the benefit of the nation.
