Due to severe fog and low visibility, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has closed Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai to traffic.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police has emphasized that the closure of motorways is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens. They have strongly recommended that individuals avoid unnecessary travel during the early hours, especially in the midst of dense fog.
Travelers have been urged to activate both front and rear fog lights to enhance visibility and minimize the risk of incidents. Furthermore, the spokesperson has advised choosing daylight hours for travel during the foggy season to enhance safety.
Earlier today, sections of the Lahore-Multan Motorway, specifically from Faizpur to Jarhanwala, as well as the Lahore Motorway from Lahore to Sambrial, were temporarily closed due to the prevailing heavy fog conditions.
The spokesperson reiterated the importance of using fog lights when traveling in such weather conditions. The National Highways and Motorway Police have issued a public advisory, encouraging drivers to maintain a greater distance between vehicles and to seek guidance from the helpline (130) before embarking on their journeys. These measures are intended to enhance overall safety on the roads during adverse weather conditions.
