Mehwish Anwar has made a significant breakthrough in the aviation industry by becoming the first female flying spanner engineer for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). This milestone was celebrated following the successful completion of her inaugural flight.
Anwar’s “groundbreaking flight” from Islamabad to Sukkur was hailed as a major achievement for PIA. Throughout the journey, she was responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of engineering functions, ensuring the flight’s technical integrity.
A spokesperson for PIA expressed pride in her accomplishment, describing her as an inspiration for others. “Her dedication and consistency have made her a role model, and this achievement stands as a beacon of progress for women in aviation,” the spokesperson said.
Anwar began her engineering career in 2013 and achieved certification as a flying spanner engineer in 2023, further solidifying her role in PIA’s operations.
