Pakistan’s most successful Test captain Misbah Ul Haq has been appointed as an advisor to Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Zaka Ashraf.
Misbah’s appointment is an honourary role, and the former Pakistan skipper will not be receiving any remuneration for his services.
Sources said Ashraf offered Misbah a full-time role with the board, but he declined. However, the PCB chief convinced him to head the cricket and technical committees.
The development came during Misbah’s meeting with Ashraf on Monday.
Later, speaking to the press, Ashraf stated that Misbah would advise him on all board affairs and represent the PCB in International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings.
“I will be making important PCB decisions soon.” “I’m also talking about [appointing] a media director,” Ashraf said.
The PCB chairman stated that he would administer the board in cooperation with Misbah and that a new national selection committee would be formed with his participation.
In September 2019, the former captain took over as Pakistan’s coach and top selector, succeeding Mickey Arthur as head coach.
Misbah had played under Arthur while he was captain of the Test side for a year, during which time Pakistan rose to the top of the international rankings.
