Internet and mobile network services have been suspended in several cities across Pakistan, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as per reports. The disruptions come ahead of a planned protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at D-Chowk in Islamabad.
Sources also reported internet outages in Karachi, where users are experiencing difficulties accessing social media platforms.
Earlier today, the Punjab government deployed Rangers personnel in four cities—Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha—after invoking Section 144, which bans political gatherings, protests, and rallies.
In Lahore, three companies of Rangers have been called in to maintain law and order, particularly for anticipated events on October 5th. Section 144 will remain in effect for three days in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha, from Friday, October 4th, to Sunday, October 6th.
