The IWMB has prepared a proposal for the establishment of a wildlife education centre and will now be submitted to the relevant forum for final approval. The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) plans to transform Monal Restaurant into a wildlife training centre to raise awareness about the protection and conservation of Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP). According to the details, a proposal for this centre has been prepared by the IWMB and will now be submitted to the relevant forum for final approval.
The Ministry of Climate Change has already welcomed the court’s decision to close the Monal restaurant and should support the proposal to set up this centre. The IWMB has also decided to notify two other restaurants still operating near the protected MHNP. An official from the Department of Climate Change said local people and builders illegally for residential and commercial purposes to restore their own areas of the national park are underway. He said the court’s decision would go a long way in improving biodiversity, developing flora and fauna, and restoring the national park ecosystem. The chairman of IWMB said: “Islamabad’s old zoo has been converted into a wildlife park with a separate rescue center for injured wildlife.”
