Youssef En-goal Nesyri’s in the first half gave Morocco a suspenseful 1-0 victory in their first-ever world cup quarter, adding Portugal to the list of European countries they have defeated.

Morocco was the first African country and Arab team to go to the semi-finals of the major competition after their incredible victory.

En-Nesyri scored the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute off Yahia Attiyat Allah El Idrissi’s assist, capping Morocco’s impressive comeback after the break.

Portugal tried to pile pressure on Morocco after the break but the injury-hit side managed to hold on despite missing three of their four top defenders and going down to 10 men in extra time.

Then, early in the second half, Fernando Santos introduced five-time Ballon D’Or winner Ronaldo, but he, too, was unable to save his team from world cup elimination.

Instead, Morocco had another historic day after defeating Spain and Belgium on penalties earlier in the day.

At Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday, Walid Regragui’s team will now play either France, the defending champion, or England.

The underdogs in this world cup can be certain that they will win another incredible victory in the ongoing mega-event after giving up just once in five games.
