Novel coronavirus has engulfed the lives of thousands worldwide with no cure for insight. To decrease the spread of this virus drastic precautionary measures were to be taken highlight among them was social distancing. Like all the world middle east also implemented lockdown. Abiding by the precaution every mosque in Saudia was also closed to restrict the spread. The Mosques in Makkah are to be reopened this Sunday to welcome the worshippers for worshipping.
Saudia Arabia reported 1200 deaths and 150000 infected cases making them the highest infected gulf state. Although more cases are reported daily and Saudia Arabia is still combating the disease they have however announced to reopen the holy city mosques on Sunday. This news was like a ray of hope among all the Muslim world. People were excited beyond imagination to pray in their holy mosque.
Around 1500 mosques in Makkah were sanitized and disinfected to welcome visitors. Hajj’s schedule is yet to be announced whether or not it will take place but the major decision of reopening of mosques was comprehended earlier. Lockdown has lifted after three months in the holy city. Other cities’ mosques were opened earlier in May. Saudia has also announced to end the lockdown in the whole country allowing people to continue their social religious and economic activities with proper SOPs to be followed while doing so.
