On Tuesday, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) took the decision to close Motorway M-2 and M-3 for traffic due to dense fog.
As per the spokesperson for the Motorway police, the closure affects the stretch from Thokar Niaz to Khanqah Dogran on M2 and from Faizpur to Nankana Sahib on M3. This measure was implemented to ensure the safety of the general traffic during the period of reduced visibility caused by dense fog.
Travelers were strongly advised to use both front and back fog lights to enhance visibility and reduce the risk of incidents. The spokesperson further recommended opting for daytime travel during the foggy season.
Notably, this closure follows the earlier shutdown of sections of the Lahore-Multan Motorway, including the stretch from Faizpur to Jarhanwala and the Lahore motorway from Lahore to Sambrial, due to heavy fog on Monday morning.
In light of the challenging weather conditions, the spokesperson reiterated the importance of using fog lights while traveling and urged the public to maintain a safe distance between vehicles. Additionally, travelers were encouraged to seek advisory information from the helpline (130) before embarking on their journeys.
