By December 11th, 2022, Pakistan would have purchased 126,000 tablets from China for use in the 7th Population and Household Digital Census.
Beginning on August 20, delivery of the tablets will end on December 11, 2022, in eight batches. For the 7th Population and Household Census, the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) put out a comprehensive IT Turn-Key Solution. As things stand, 628 Tehsils, or over 200,000 Census Blocks, will conduct the digital census throughout the nation.
Utilizing android-based intelligent devices with House Listing and Enumeration Applications linked with GPS and a Geographic Information System, the activity must be carried out.
On June 20, 2022, NADRA and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) signed a contract to provide an IT turnkey solution for the nation’s upcoming 7th Digital Census. The contract will cost 13.4 billion rupees in total. Although the Mobilization Advance of 40% payment invoice as per the contract has been raised to PBS, the Client has distributed Rs. 2.25 billion.
According to the records, the first 500 of the 126,000 tablets to be ordered from China will arrive on August 20. Thereafter, there will be three batches of 18,500 tablets each in October and two batches of 18,500 tablets each in November.
Two batches of 18,500 and 14,500 will arrive in Pakistan on 1 and 15 December, respectively. For carrying out pilot digital census and training in 83 tehsils, NADRA has already arranged 600 tablets from BISP on loan.
With the delivery of 17,600 tablets to Chief Statistician PBS, Naeem-uz-Zafar at Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Nadra has overall provided 126,000 android gadgets for the 7th population & housing census.
