Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will launch a new mobile app to provide citizens with improved and more secure services. This decision follows the permanent shutdown of the Pak ID web portal, effective from January 17.
Why the Change?
The shift to the mobile app comes in response to several challenges associated with the Pak ID website:
- User Difficulties: Many citizens, especially overseas Pakistanis, struggled with uploading fingerprints and required documents through the web portal.
- Fraud Prevention: The website became a target for fraudulent activities, with fake websites being used to create counterfeit identity documents and misuse citizens’ personal data.
Features of the New NADRA Mobile App
The app will offer all key services previously available on the website, including:
- ID cards (CNIC)
- National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
- Pakistan Origin Card (POC)
- B-Form (Family Registration Certificate)
- FRC (Family Registration Certificate)
The app is designed to let users complete the entire process from the comfort of their homes.
Plans for Better Accessibility
To enhance service delivery, three new regional centers will be established in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These offices will become operational by March 31, improving accessibility for citizens in remote areas and strengthening communication between NADRA officials and residents.
Action Against Fraud
Naqvi emphasized that the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are actively working to combat fraudulent activities. NADRA is collaborating with other institutions to ensure the protection of citizens’ personal data.
This new initiative aims to provide better, more secure, and user-friendly services to the people of Pakistan, both domestically and abroad.
