In the well-known Naqeeb Ullah Mehsud murder case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday acquitted former SSP Malir Rao Anwar and other convicts.
Mehsud was slain on January 13 in Karachi during a phoney encounter that Rao Anwar, the senior superintendent of police for the Malir district of Karachi, allegedly staged.
According to specifics, the court declared that the prosecution had failed to establish the claims made against the primary defendant Rao Anwar and the other defendants.
The petitioner asked the Sindh High Court (SHC) to revoke former SSP Malir Rao Anwar’s bail in connection with the famous Naqeeb Ullah Mehsud murder.
The request by Rao Anwar’s father to have his bail suspended has been dropped.
The case was tried by a two-judge bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC), headed over by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro.
The petitioner informed the court that the case trial was concluded and that they were unable to pursue charges against the accused.
On July 11, 2018, the ATC granted former SSP Malir Rao Anwar bail in exchange for a Rs 1 million surety bond.
Later on January 31, 2020, a petition to revoke the bail of former SSP Malir Rao Anwar in the murder case of Naqeebullah Mehsud was submitted to the Sindh High Court (SHC).
Earlier, a Karachi anti-terrorism court (ATC) postponed the hearing on the murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud till January 12.
