Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the nation will celebrate Independence Day with full patriotic zeal and enthusiasm. Speaking at a Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he emphasized that the day will be marked by a renewed commitment to serve the country with dedication and devotion.
The Prime Minister lauded Arshad Nadeem for his historic achievement in winning a gold medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, breaking a 40-year drought for Pakistan in the event. He praised Nadeem’s record-breaking performance, calling it a proud moment for the nation.
Addressing the power sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted the positive impact of recent government initiatives aimed at improving the sector. He commended Minister of Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari for his efforts in driving these improvements.
The Prime Minister underscored the need to reduce production costs to revive the industrial and agricultural sectors. He also highlighted the importance of reforming the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to boost tax collection and drive national development. He suggested that cutting red tape, streamlining procedures, and digitizing processes are key to revitalizing the FBR, with consultants already on board to assist in this effort.
Shehbaz Sharif urged all government ministries to adopt paperless operations, stressing that innovation is essential for success. He called for the introduction of new programs and bold decisions to inspire hope in the nation.
The Prime Minister also informed the Cabinet that a legal stay sought by some FBR officers had been vacated due to the government’s proactive approach.
The meeting concluded with a prayer for the souls of Deputy Commissioner Panjgur Zakir Baloch and Shaheed Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik, who sacrificed their lives in service to the country.
