The National Security Committee (NSC) met on Friday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reviewed the country’s economic and security situation.
The federal ministers, service chiefs, and heads of intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed by the heads of the intelligence services on the country’s overall law and order situation as well as the causes of the most recent wave of terrorism and the measures.
The meeting also briefed on the situation in Afghanistan by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, who highlighted Pakistan’s relations with the Afghan interim government.
The meeting expressed an unequivocal opinion that Pakistan’s national interests would not be compromised and no one would be allowed to harm national security.
It was stressed that Pakistan would protect its interests in growth, security, and survival with great courage, consistency, and steadfastness.
The meeting termed the terrorists as enemies of Pakistan and expressed resolve to eliminate them. The notion that the entire country shared a common narrative against terrorism and terrorists was emphasized.
The meeting of National Security Committee (NSC) will finalize its decisions on Monday in line with the recommendations.
