A two-day Neelum Valley snow festival will be inaugurated at the district headquarters of the Neelum valley of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Saturday, Economy reported.
The program includes a jeep rally from the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Athmuqam to Upper Neelum village. The Neelum Valley festival will also hold winter games and a Sufi musical event at a rest house in Karan along the banks of the Neelum River.
According to the report, the festival had been planned to promote winter tourism and cultural activities in the picturesque valley known for its stunning natural views. The valley is the northernmost of 10 districts located within the territory of Azad Kashmir.
The festival will be inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Masoodur Rehman Deputy, DC Shaukat Khan Yousufzai told the newspaper outlet.
Kashmiri handicrafts would also be exhibited at the venue and food stalls will also be arranged. Traditional Kashmiri crafts like rugs, crewelwork, papier-mache and items like vases, trays, or small boxes are very popular among local and foreign tourists and are often a source of livelihood for many artisans.
Similar events have also been planned in the towns of Sharda and Kel, two small villages in the Neelum Valley.
