Egyptian and Qatari negotiators are actively advocating for a fresh two-day extension of the ongoing truce in Gaza. This initiative, as outlined in a statement from Egypt’s state media, is coupled with calls for additional prisoner releases and an augmentation of humanitarian aid deliveries.
The extension, granted on Thursday for a seventh consecutive day, encompasses significant provisions. These include the release of 10 Israelis detained by Hamas, the liberation of 30 Palestinian prisoners, and the commitment to maintain the previous six days’ levels of humanitarian relief. Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt’s state information service, affirmed these details in an official statement.
The statement emphasized Egypt’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to both the northern and southern regions of the Gaza Strip. The ongoing negotiations underscore the collective efforts to address pressing issues and sustain the positive trajectory established by the truce extension.
