A new potentially more infectious viral mutation or a variant of the SARS-CoV-2 was confirmed in South Africa. Several countries have poured in to ban travellers from South Africa, as the variant was identified in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and along the Garden Route.
The new variant may have properties that would certainly allow it to spread faster than the other variants of the CoronaVirus.
Similarly, a new and possibly a more virulent variant was also confirmed in the United Kingdom by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The premier announced tougher lockdown measures for London, following the announcement and accessing the situation dozens of countries have banned flights from the UK
In response to the new variant of the SARS-CoV-2, countries have closed their borders to South African travellers. Following countries have banned travel from the United Kingdom, which makes bans on South Africa to follow. The UK has been hit with a lot of flight suspensions across the European Union and the world.
