The federal government has recently raised the fees for the issuance of machine-readable passports in both normal and urgent categories.
The urgent fee for a 36-page passport with a five-year validity period has been increased to Rs7,500, and for a ten-year validity, it will now be Rs11,200.
The government of Pakistan issues passports to its legitimate citizens to facilitate their travel and provide them with protection while abroad through diplomatic missions. The passport serves as the sole document confirming the identity of a citizen of the Republic of Pakistan overseas, enabling their right to exit and enter the country.
The updated fee structure for urgent processing of passports in 2024 is as follows:
- For a 36-page passport with a five-year validity, the fee is now Rs7,500, and for a ten-year validity, it is Rs11,200.
- The urgent fee for a 72-page passport with a five-year validity has been raised to Rs13,500, and for a ten-year validity, it is now Rs20,200.
- Similarly, the urgent fee for a 100-page passport with a five-year validity has been increased to Rs18,000, and for a ten-year validity, it is now Rs27,000.
It’s important to note that the department will also charge Rs1,000 in service fees for all applications in both normal and urgent categories. Citizens are advised to stay informed about these changes and plan accordingly when applying for or renewing their passports.
