The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has informed all candidates and political parties participating in the 2024 general elections that campaign activities are prohibited after midnight on February 6, 2024, in accordance with Section 182 of the Elections Act 2017.
Legal action will be taken against any violators. Caretaker Federal Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar briefed the Chief Election Commissioner on election preparations.
The ECP canceled notifications postponing polls in two constituencies after discovering that a candidate’s death date was misrepresented.
The ECP has also fixed a hearing on hooliganism charges against a candidate and directed action against aerial firing by another candidate. The contempt case against Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry will resume on January 24.
