Nokia has secured a significant multi-billion dollar contract with India’s Bharti Airtel to supply 4G and 5G infrastructure. The deal is a key move in expanding Airtel’s network capabilities across India.
Sources familiar with the negotiations confirmed that Nokia and Bharti were finalizing a deal worth several billion dollars to enhance Airtel’s mobile networks. This follows a similar agreement between Bharti Airtel and Swedish rival Ericsson earlier this year.
Nokia and Ericsson have seen strong demand from India over the past year, compensating for weaker demand from U.S. customers. However, following a surge in orders last year, the pace of orders from India has slowed significantly.
As a result of this new deal, Nokia’s stock price increased by 3.1% early Wednesday morning, reflecting positive investor sentiment.
